What are the best ways of saving gas besides, driving less?

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I want to know what the best way is to save gas besides, driving less or moving. Like what can you do to save it while traveling somewhere. I want some of your creative suggestions on how to save gas.

Thank You!!

There are few thing you can do to save (or maximize) gas MPG. First get a tune-up.

(1) spark plugs
(2) spark plug wires
(3) distributors, coil, rotors (if you have them).
(4) new air filter
(5) PCV
(6) correct tire pressure
(7) clear the trunk of useless heavy items
(8) spray clean MAF sensor.

Forget all those "SAVE GAS" scams. This was on NBC morning TV show. The difference is as much as 38% (their claim). There are very simple rules to save gas:

(1) drive slow – not too much past 55
(2) accelerate slowly
(3) don’t brake unnecessarily
(4) use cruise control – whenever it is safe to do so.

Don’t coast – it is NOT safe (to coast in Nuetral) and it does NOT save gas. It only saves gas, if you are planning to slow down (exiting, tolls, traffic). Coasting then accelerating again is LESS efficient than just cruising.

The above really works. Using those simple rules I was able to drive from Boston to NYC (210.5 miles) on just 5.112 gallon (94 Civic). That’s 41 MPG (94 Civic 187K miles). Actually I was speeding at 72 MPH so I could do even better at 55.

WOW !!

Good Luck…

How do i get a fuel card?

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Like a EXXON or Shell. Gasoline cards do not require nearly as much proven payment records like a Gold mastercard or Visa they will usually start you witha 250 to 500.00 credit line make your payments on time and the rest will come to you, but remember its a GASOLINE card not a cig card or soda and chip card, use it responsibly

Am I saving gas by doing the following?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I have a ford laser sport ’91. It’s 1500cc

When the car is warmed up I can travel at 60km whilst doing 1500revs. I usually stick to this speed when I’m on a backroad. Am i saving gas, would I be saving more gas if i went 100km?

Also I usually travel 80km-90km on the highway (slow I know) Will i be saving more gas?

Please give me some speed tips on saving gas.

Also; say I’m on an open road and I’m going 30km at 1500revs and put my foot down to hit 2500revs till i get to 60km then just stay at that speed or will I save more gas just letting it gradually pick up. Mainly because if it revs for longer at a slower speed I figure I’m waster gas

I get about 2550revs – 2600revs at 100km. It’s just about the 2 1/2 rev mark.
Driving Automatic

The first thing to understand is the co-efficient of drag. The faster you go, the harder the air is that your car is pushing through. In America, they set the speed limit to 55mph in the 1970′s energy crisis to save energy. As a result of keeping people in the softer air of slower speeds, there was a tremendous savings of fuel overall.

The RPM of the engine doesn’t really tell you how much fuel you’re using. Think about this: When you are going downhill, you’re using very little gas pedal to produce 1500RPM, but going uphill would require you to push the pedal most of the way down to accomplish the same rev.

You will save gas by avoiding heavy acceleration, for sure. Fuel consumption is directly related to the position of the throttle, so the further down you’re pusing it, the more fuel you’re gonna use. Gentle acceleration is definitely more economical.

Best rule of thumb, find the level of acceleration that allows the gears to shift without feeling much of a jerk in the car.

Are Corporate Gas Credit Cards Considered as Income and Taxable?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

My company is offering gas/fuel credit cards to our technicians in lieu of a vehicle allowance. However, HR is advising the techs that the cards are considered income and are therefore taxable. Is this true?

It depends on the type of expense reimbursement plan that you have. If you have an accountable plan, then you must submit expense reports to your employer to verify your gas useage, in which case the gas card use would not be taxable. If your employer has a non-accountable plan, then you use the card, they include the use in your W-2 and then you have to claim the net business expenses or net gas card use income on your personnal tax return.

Americas Economic Feeding Tube, MADE IN CHINA

*BEWARE* Financial advisors that sell U.S. mutual funds and strive for 12% returns. Gasoline in the U.S. alone is up 12% in the last 30 days. Inflation is around 13%(shadowstats.com), so unless your saving account or stocks are beating that, you’re allowing the Federal Reserve to steal money from you.

The United States is Dependent on China. Americans have an artificial life style thanks to the Chinese. Over all, the average American is very poor, we just look rich because were able to borrow to consume. And just like it’s citizens, the United States has become a nation of debt and only appears wealthy thanks to its Chinese global consumption credit card.
The growth from 2002 to 2007 was artificial; it was dependent on endless home equity that poor Americans could constantly tap to consume. Again borrowing to consume is not real economic growth.
