There will be no Christmas cards this year;
no poetic musings chiming good will and cheer.
Instead, Santa shares this video missive from the Oval Toy Shop
that Artic gift factory that resides at the worlds icy top.
Indeed the past 12 months have swept a frigid chill,
a climate so cold it has frozen a world of free will.
Lets take a moment to recap what we have seen,
so every adult child can grasp the words Santa does mean.
For starters, the North Pole endured an endless election campaign
partisan bickerings to determine which party should rule and rein.
The Elves and Reindeer each politicked over change we can believe,
its result forcing all Northern Pole residents to lament and grieve.
We heard about reverends that were far from Wright,
and terrorists with Ayers designed to instill lasting fright.
We witnessed candidates who were momentarily suspended,
as our Northern economy quickly became up-ended.
Fuel costs for Santas sled had soared feverishly high;
real estate values for the Toy Shop plummeted from its sky.
Even Santas investments were worth less than a dime,
with Wall Street executives belching over their blatant crime.
CEOs of our big Toy Factories jetted here with tin cup in hand,
asking partisan leaders to bail them out from homemade quicksand.
Even with billions of North Pole dollars set deficitedly aside,
job loss would only overwhelm the tumult of this rising blue tide.
Artic residents now face loss of both job and home,
as oversea wars continue to grow and roam.
About the only global warming in this tundra of snow
is the beacon of light from Rudolphs nasal glow.
Yes, it has been a tough year for Santas distant North Pole.
Would Christmas stockings bear majestic gifts or hardened coal?
Answers are not in the presents of mind;
they feast in a glory savored by a heartfelt bind.
We celebrate a Silent Night when Santa Claus Comes to Town
with Jingle Bells and a Little Drummer Boy heralding a holiday sound
sweet, dulcet tones that pervade a lyrically festive air,
bestowing humanitys alms that favor a community of care.
Yes, there will be no Christmas cards this holiday season;
no remembrances of 2008 being devoid of all reason.
And yes, gone will be those bids of pay to play,
replaced by each of us having a hearty and equal say.
We now look ahead to the coming years bounty of hope;
a time to embrace the real change that enables us to cope.
So, make the holiday season one of peace and joy
truly everlasting gifts for every adult girl and boy.
As we conclude this video greeting and holiday tiding,
heres the future Mrs. Claus from behind the camera she was hiding.
Together we want to wish each of you the blessings of this time,
and the happiest of new years as we all go toward a rebirth in 2009.
